About Nabe Beat

Nabe Beat is a daily look at American neighborhoods, one place at a time.

Every neighborhood has a price, a story, and a feel you only get from its blocks. One day it is a reservoir neighborhood in Los Angeles with a century of film history in its hills. The next it is a row house district in Brooklyn where the park works as everyone's front yard. Nabe Beat spends a day in each one: what it costs to live there, what an ordinary Tuesday looks like, and how the place came to be.

The mix is the point. Some neighborhoods are famous. Some are easy to drive past and hard to forget once you stop. Some are exactly right for a particular chapter of life: a first home, a car free routine, a quieter street, room for the grandkids to visit. If a place has a character of its own, it belongs here.

Coverage begins in ten states: California, Texas, New York, Florida, Arizona, North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Colorado, and Washington, and grows from there, one neighborhood a day.

Nabe Beat is free to read and supported by advertising. The ad slots are labeled, plain as day.
