Charlotte
Charlotte runs on creeks, oak canopy and streetcar bones. Start just east of Uptown, where Plaza Midwood wraps around the two streets its own streetcar built, Central Avenue and The Plaza.
Metro Snapshot
Plaza Midwood sets the first comparison point. Its median sale price of $992,500 (Houzeo, from Canopy MLS, September 2026) sits far above the Charlotte city median of about $419,800 (Redfin, September 2026), because the neighborhood trades three products at once: 1920s bungalows, new infill and the condos underneath both. Uptown is about 2 miles away, about 7 minutes by car, and the CityLYNX Gold Line streetcar runs every 20 minutes from Sunnyside Avenue station at the neighborhood's edge.

Plaza Midwood
Charlotte's streetcar suburb that kept its patchwork: grand houses, bungalows, Tudor duplexes and a 1928 quadraplex laid out for different wallets on the same oak shaded streets, Central Avenue's independent restaurants and bars a short walk from the porches, and Uptown about two miles away.

Around Plaza Midwood sit its natural comparisons: Belmont and Villa Heights toward Uptown and NoDa, Elizabeth and Chantilly across Central Avenue, and Dilworth, Charlotte's first streetcar suburb, across town.
